Zagar says, "I believe in the future, I feel that those people that live in another time will see my work very differently than I can even see it." Isaiah Zagar has been creating mosaics in Philadelphia since 1968, after a stint in the Peace Corps where he served in Peru.

The "magic garden" is a popular Philadelphia landmark that allows the public a glimpse into his artistic vision.  Not only is he creating art that is very likely to withstand the aging process, he is doing so in a public corridor that is indicative of an unrestrained realm of possibilities not restricted by museum walls.
